The Product Business Unit has been an invaluable partner of the practice areas in this endeavor and has lead by example through evangelizing exceptional user experience design process, research, and methodologies. Together, we have designed, developed and deployed a number of custom software products with proven success in the field. It is critical that the user experience and design of our flagship products are intuitive and engaging, and sit alongside each other in a world class ecosystem of products and tools.

This Senior Designer will play a critical role in driving exceptional user experience of these software products, likely collaborating in successful multi-million dollar, multi-year investments. This individual will be an integral member of the product design and development team throughout a product lifecycle and report into the Product Design functional leadership to ensure alignment to BCG’s product strategy. The role will be an expert and thought leader around interaction design, establishing best practice, quality of implementation and championing collaboration with BCG Omnia's Standards and Style Guides.

• Carry out and/or lead efforts through all stages of the interaction design process. Helping to establish and evolve the product design from concept to implementation:
    • Rapid ideation (Sketching, White-boarding, etc)
    • Wireframes & Prototypes
    • Visual design
    • Front-end implementation
    • Triage / resolving blockers
    • Identifying new standards and patterns
    • Collaborate with Engineering on UI requirements in agile SCRUM or iterative development life cycles
• Be comfortable with balancing technical challenges with best practice interaction design
• Mentor and direct other, more junior members of the team
• Perform other projects and duties as assigned or required
• Moderate amount of traveling – dependent on project requirements
• User-centered design approach
• Deep understanding of the full spectrum of visual design and willingness to introduce new approaches to the team as and when is appropriate
• Understanding of user research methodologies and practice
• Experience working with complex systems and data dense environments
• Strong understanding of what makes data visualization work
• Experience working with responsive and adaptive interface designs to support cross-device and differing environments
• Good understanding of accessibility standards and how they should influence our product designs
• Create standards that can be effectively rolled out to our 3rd party vendors
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to help evangelize our interaction design guidance across the business and to successfully articulate concepts at all levels
• Ability to validate ideas quickly, able to fail fast and learn moving forward •Strong collaborative skills and able to adjust approach to effectively interact with colleagues at all organizational and technical levels
• A good understanding of, and experience working alongside different software development models and life cycle

• Drive awareness and promote best practices and market trends for interaction design
• Lead user experience and design efforts, partnering with business and Engineering to solve goals and challenges for our clients and their users
• Hands on design and wireframing in support of product stakeholder needs
• Collaborate with team members on successful solutions and visioning efforts
• Manage any vendor design team support to iterate through design sprints via sketching, wireframes and prototypes
• Attending team stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming and retrospective meetings
• Representing the quality of implementation, design thinking and iterate through blockers
• Work closely with our Standards and Style Guides to implement best quality design into the product
• BS/BA Degree in Graphic and Media Design or related field; advanced degree preferred or equivalent experience in the field
• Minimum 4-6 years’ experience in UI design for application development
• Fluent written and spoken English (other languages are desirable)
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates UI design thinking and core craft skills across a variety of client categories and design formats & methodologies
• Deep fluency with Adobe Creative Suite, Prototyping tools, Wireframing software
