One of the largest banks in the US is creating a new banking brand, and we're leading the product strategy and UX. We need a strong, business-focused product thinker to lead the team and help reimagine what banking looks like for 100 million people.


🏥 Building a Design System for one of the world's most prestigious and respected hospitals:

Healthcare has a bad reputation for design, and this client wants to build something beautiful that will stand the test of time and technical evolution. Help us create a Design System for their healthcare and management platforms that empowers them to provide world-class care to their patients.

We need a Senior Design Systems Lead to work directly with the client and lead the creation and implementation of the new Design System.

In today's always-on, always-mobile world convenience stores are lagging behind when it comes to mobile apps. Help us reinvent the consumer experience for a global convenience store brand.

 Though you’re skilled at many things, you are particularly strong in a few areas of the design process and you enjoy sharing these strengths with your team.

Your day-to-day:

As a Design Systems Lead at Nine Labs, you will...

  • Be responsible for identifying business, design, and development needs, defining parameters for design system componentry, documentation, and governance, and leading teams to create and deploy functional and durable design systems to our clients.

  • Quickly grasp complex problems and generate ideas that lead to functional and elegant user experiences.

  • Clearly articulate and present concepts to the larger product team and other stakeholders.

  • Lead workshops to gather design requirements and prioritize needs.

  • Conduct various forms of research and interact directly with client stakeholders and end-users.

  • Extract meaning from mounds of user data, making it easy to consume to move forward in the design process.

  • Collaborate with other designers and cross-departmentally with product, development, engineering, support, sales, and marketing teams.

  • Document design system components to be implemented in your team’s workstream for design consistency.

  • Work with the development team on implementation of your design system.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years relevant experience in UX, product, or interaction design.

  • 3+ years relevant experience building, managing, and contributing to design systems.

  • Strong experience with design systems concepts and tools, governance models, atomic design patterns, and usage of design tokens.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to simplify complex concepts.

  • Proficiency in visual UI design using Sketch, InVision, Figma, Axure, and similar tools.

  • Experience in being responsible for design and user experience for end-to-end workflows. 

  • Ability to define and translate business requirements and user feedback into functional specifications.

  • Ability to break down flowcharts and wireframes into requirements for reusable components.

  • A strong understanding of UI conventions and challenges for responsive web design and native mobile platforms, including UI optimization for best performance and optimal footprint on various devices.

  • Excellent organizational and efficient time management skills. 

  • High aptitude for making design decisions backed by data.

  • Contributes productively and proactively as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated desire for continuous learning and improvement.

  • Enthusiastic and creative with the ability to inspire others.

  • Maintains professional knowledge and experience.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Nice to have:

  • Experience working with enterprise SaaS companies.

  • Experience with data visualization and/or complex business applications. 

  • Experience in customer success/account management or product management for a software company.

  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
